What is a Business Angel and what is a Business Angel Network (BAN)?

A private individual who invests (part of his personal assets) in a start-up/entrepreneur and shares his personal (business management) experience with the entrepreneur.

A BAN is an organisation that aims to bring together new or growing small and medium sized companies (Entrepreneurs) with Business Angels. The aim is to increase the efficiency of the informal segment of venture capital and bridge the gap between the entrepreneur’s own funds and those available from formal venture capitalists.
